master prospector secret 1In studying the 17 Secrets of the Master Prospectors by John Kalench, I found Master Prospector Secret 1, Master Prospectors don’t sit on their assets, a bit confusing, until I read this chapter a few times. The crux is that master prospectors always remain in motion.

Master Prospector Secret 1: Master Prospectors always remain in motion

The key to this secret is that the Master Prospector puts himself/herself into motion by taking action, and then having the wisdom to correct and adjust your actions as you go along so that you stay on course.

On a side note: Master Prospectors take BIG action. Will they make mistakes? Absolutely. If you are going to make a mistake, you want to make a big one. Why? Because you learn better that way. Some people major in minor mistakes. Because the mistakes are minor, nobody really notices and you don’t get to experience the devastating effects of a big mistake; consequently you keep on repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Whereas with a big mistake, you learn from it and move on.

Some people are working for 20 years, but in effect they worked for one year where they took action and found something that works, and just repeated that for 19 more years. No growth at all. The mistake these folks make is not realising that there is so much more. They found something that works, and instead of asking themselves how they can make this work even bigger and better, they just simply sat on their assets for 19 years.

John relates the story of a NASA trip to the moon. All those NASA engineers and specialists planned the trip to the moon and back in great detail. Firstly, they could see the moon. One would think that they would be able to pre-plan every minute detail, right?

However, once the spaceship took off for the moon, would you like to take a guess as to what percentage of time they were actually on course toward their target, being the moon?

The experts say less than 3%! So what the heck were they doing for 97% of the time?

Correcting. Adjusting. Getting back on course!

But here’s the thing: You cannot correct, adjust or get back on course unless you are first in motion.

Master Prospectors know this. They know that it is more important to take immediate action in order to get in motion, than it is to take the right action. Sometimes it simply just does not matter on which side of the fence you get off on; as long as you get off!

Gaining knowledge is not learning unless you put it into action and see for yourself how it is working out in real life.

So many people come into network marketing and they want to understand everything first. They want to know everything before they do anything. They will read the books. They will attend the seminars. They will gain all this head knowledge, but it is futile unless that knowledge can be put to work.

Master Prospectors are never content with the status quo of what they know and do. They are constantly stretching themselves, seeking new challenges and new learning opportunities. They are constantly taking action. Thus, they are able to make more and more educated decisions along the way.

If you find yourself attracted to something, it is easier to move towards it first and then to adjust your direction as you go. If you keep waiting for “the right moment” to get going, you probably never will.

Results can only appear as a consequence of action. If you are not in motion, i.e. you have not taken action, your results will always be zero.

However, if you aim for the moon and take off with massive action, putting yourself into motion, you are bound to create results. Now it might not be the perfect results that you were aiming for, but the results will still be pretty spectacular just because you took massive action.

The key is to be wise enough to adjust and correct along the way.

So the key to Master Prospector Secret 1 is taking action and putting yourself into motion and then having the wisdom to correct and adjust your actions to stay on course.

Then the key to becoming a Master Prospector in Network Marketing will be how well you apply what you learn along the way. How quickly you identify problem areas and follow the action steps to correct it. How willing you are to correct and adjust your actions as you journey along your path.

It’s during this process that you will discover the special prospecting techniques that work best for you. When you find one, remember to keep asking yourself, “What can I do to make this work bigger and bolder? What big action can I now take to accelerate this entire experience?”

The Master Prospector finds a technique that works for him/her and thereafter seek ways in which to scale it.

In the introduction we touched upon the fact that we are human beings. We must first be, before we can do before we can have. What you and I become during the process (on this journey) is much more important than the destination.

I’m pretty sure you are all familiar with the expression, it’s not so much about the destination; it’s all about the journey.

Most people join Network Marketing for the money. That is their main aim; their goal. But in the end it is not about the money; it is about who and what you become along the way. And that brings us to the next concept that John teaches:

Master Prospector Secret 1: The law of Precession

The universal law of precession was first discovered and explained by Bukminister Fuller. John calls this law, the law of side-effects.

It simply means this: If you focus on something and you go for it, there is always an equal or greater unintended result produced at a 90 degree angle.

Take a honey bee for example. It wants nectar. It hones in on the flowers. It’s their goal. It’s their mission. So they put themselves into action and go for the flowers, one after the other. But on a 90 degree angle, unbeknownst to them, they are cross-pollinating and thereby ensuring the procreation of the plant species. Now, do the bees care about this? Not consciously. I’m not aware of any cross-pollination bee labour unions demanding more honey for the worker bees because their actions in fact ensure a lasting food supply. 🙂

We humans also create this 90 degree side-effect. Now if your main aim and chief motive is only to get money no matter what, and that’s what you are going after, then the 90 degree side-effect you will create is greed. We see it today in the corporate structures. People backstabbing one another to try and get ahead; damaging relationships on the way and leaving carnage in their wake.

We are fortunate that in network marketing the only way to “get ahead”, is to help other people.

So even if your goal is money, that’s okay. As long as you realise that you can only get the money you want, if you help enough other people along the way get what they want.

Those who master Master Prospecting Secret 1, know that if they focus on adding value along the way, the 90 degree side-effect will be abundance and balance.

In network marketing, some of the most astounding side-effects are created when you are in motion towards your goal of becoming a top producer in your company. As your constant focus is on adding value to all the people you encounter along the way, some of the side-effect spin-offs for you will be:

  • true, lifelong friendships
  • personal development
  • happiness
  • joy
  • peace
  • abundance

Can you see how now it is true that what you are becoming along the way, is more important than what you are getting along the way?

John has this to say about this:

“There is a joy inherent in running your Network Marketing business, and it comes from the day-to-day contribution and service you give to others.”

So, what contribution towards others did you make in your Network Marketing business today?

Think about this for a moment. Is it possible to earn $5,000, $10,000 or $50,000 per month and more in Network Marketing without having made a positive and lasting contribution to hundreds – or thousands – of people along the way? I think not!

Master Prospector Secret 1 – Home work:

In the comment section below and in your journal (that’s where your homework should be done as it will hold you accountable and serve not only as reference to your growth, but also your commitment to become a better, or rather, a master prospector) answer and write down now:

1. Am I in motion (have I taken action to sponsor new members into my business today)? Do not worry if you are not in motion yet. You did not know that this is actually more important than knowing what to do. So for today, we will forgive you. We will give you tonight to ponder it over. But surely by tomorrow you will be in motion, right?

2. As I build my successful Network Marketing Business, how do I see myself adding value to others along the way?

3. Knowing that I deserve to be prosperous and abundant, what side effects do I want to create in my life as a result of my attraction towards my goals (or money)?

4. What actions (the bigger the better) can I begin to take that will move me towards my goals? Tip: Master Prospectors experiment with different techniques on a small scale, tracking their numbers in order to find something that works for them and then they scale it. Not the other way around.
