Our daily habits (healthy or not) determines our results in life
They say the secret to success – the success formula to life so to speak – is Knowledge, Skill and Attitude.
The first two: knowledge and skill are easy to get. Knowledge is simply knowing WHAT to do.
Skill is knowing HOW to do it.
Skill usually implies that once you know what to do, you now try to do it. At first you might not be very good at it. You might even “fail”, whatever that means. But if you try again, and again, and again…you will notice that you become better. Your skill is improving. You are becoming more and more skillful the more you try. Without taking action on the knowledge you have, you will not acquire any skills. Applied knowledge leads to better skills.
Attitude is a bit harder. Attitude is your WANT. It is your DESIRE. How badly do you want the results you desire? How strongly do you feel about it? To what lengths will you go to acquire the knowledge and skill necessary for your endeavor? How much effort are you willing to expend on it? How much time are you willing to devote to it? How much money are you willing to invest in it? How long will you persist in your quest? How many tears are you willing to shed to obtain it. What obstacle will stop you? How many well meaning friends or family members will you be able to ignore whilst in pursuit? When will quitting become an option for you?
You see, if you have a strong unshakeable desire to achieve your goal; if you are willing to do whatever it takes; if you are willing to pursue your quest with a burning desire that fuels you on, then you will acquire the necessary knowledge to achieve your goal. You will do the research. You will Grok or Google it. You will buy the books and read them (and read them again). You will listen to the seminars, podcasts and trainings. You will make notes and more notes. By acquiring more and more knowledge on the subject; “reading wide”, you will begin to recognize the core principles that you need to apply. You will invest the time, money and effort that if takes to become knowledgeable on the subject. You will learn how to hone your skills. Nothing and nobody will come in your way or deter you. If someone tries to distract you; you will simply and politely ask them to get out of your way. If they refuse, you will walk around them, and continue with your quest. If they try to block you; you will remove them (politely) from the people you associate with for the time being. If your passion, your desire and your want is strong enough, you will do whatever it takes, no matter what.
That very same attitude will drive you, once you begin to acquire some knowledge on the subject, to apply it. You will try it out. You will take action. If you “fail”, you keep trying and keep at it. In the meantime you will acquire more and more knowledge, allowing you to take better and better action. Each time you apply your new knowledge, you become better; more skillful. And if someone, a well meaning friend or family member, try to get in your way? You guessed it, you will politely ask them to get out of your way. If they refuse or persist in their attempts to distract or stop you, you will simply disassociate with them for the time being (if it’s a good friend or family member, limited association is called for).
This is the recipe for success. Now you know. Only one question remains:
