I learned a dear lesson yesterday – hydration is key to reshaping your body effectively
Thanks for checking in on me today. According to my Tanita body scanner, I lost another 0.5kg, but I am not happy!
As you know, I played golf yesterday (it took about 4h30min for the round) and as you know I play again a little later today. What I did not mention was that it was very hot yesterday. The humidity was high we were sweating out there, literally and figuratively! So how much fluid did I drink during the round? About 1250 ml of water and about 250ml of protein shake mixed with water. That was it. In retrospect, that was way too little. Taking the nutritional protein shake after 9 holes was a blessing in disguise and I could feel the difference it made in how I felt over all after the round. Refueling with nutrition while you do endurance type sports is critical.
So, at 7h18 this morning, Tanita spat these figures out:
- Weight 101.1 kg (down 600g; over all down 1.4kg)
- Body fat percentage 31.6% (up by 0.9%; over all down 1%)
- Body fat mass 32 kg (up by 700g; over all down by 1.4 kg)
- Visceral fat 16 (back up by 1)
- Body water percentage 47.9% (down 0.5%; over all up by 0.4%)
- Muscle mass 65.7 kg (down 1.3 kg; over all up by 100g)
- Metabolic age 68 (same)
So, as you can see the BIG issue for me was my hydration. It could also be that on top of that I missed my protein goal for the day. I am not scientifically aware of the effect of a round of golf on all these stats, but I’m thinking that today I need to up my water and protein intake like crazy. I’m running low on my Personalised Protein Powder, so now I need to get creative to increase my protein intake until my next Herbalife order. I need to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
This situation is the reverse as day 4. Had I only have a bathroom scale that shows weight only, I probably would have been over the moon and remained completely ignorant with regards to the rest of my stats. Hopefully this allows me to intervene and fix the two problem issues that I have identified.
Yesterday’s exercise consisted of one round of golf (18 holes) and a plus minus 500m cool down swim in the home pool when I got home.
Family dinner was a highlight for me. My wife made home made meatballs with a salad. They had pasta too. I skipped the pasta as I did not want to load all those refined carbs onto my diet.
Oh well, not the results I wanted to see, but as I said yesterday, it is still early days. Fifty five more days to go to turn my body into a fat burning machine. 🙂
