Understanding pain, where it comes from and why you experience it, will help you to deal with pain better.

Understanding pain to Deal with Pain – How does it work?
It’s all in the brain. I don’t say that to be condescending. Pain is very real. I know. But it is your brain producing the pain in response to messages it receives from the receptors all over your body.
Your brain sends the pain to that affected area to protect you. Your brain essentially is saying to you; stop doing what you are doing in that area, otherwise you are going to do serious damage to it.
The pain you experience is part of a warning system to protect you. Understanding pain is critical in pain management.

The only job a pain killer has, is not to kill the pain, but to kill or block the signal from the receptor on your body, thereby preventing that signal to reach your brain. Hence your brain will not send the pain to that area. As simple as that. I trust that you are understanding pain a bit better now and that it will help you to deal with pain better.
