How to Win Friends and Influence People – Why ask me, I’m wrong more than I’m right?
In this video I share a life lesson we all need to learn. Very few people are right more than they are wrong. If you were right just 55% of the time, you will make a killing on the stock market…every single day.
When we deal with people, we deal with people who know they are right. And they are. Because according to their belief system, which is composed of the sum total of their knowledge, they are right. Now their belief system might be flawed…or put a bit more diplomatically…they might lack crucial information (knowledge), which if they did possess it, will lead to a different philosophy…in which case you will think the same on the topic.
So, if you want to win friends and influence people, never argue. If you argue, you simply demonstrate your own lack of understanding of their viewpoint. Their viewpoint is right…for them. And yours is right…for you. If you understand that their viewpoint is based on the sum total of their knowledge on the subject, you will understand that there is one of two possibilities:
- They have more and better information to their avail, upon which their belief system is based.
- They lack the information you have.
Either way, you cannot win the argument…ever. The best you can do is to try to understand upon what facts their belief is based. Only then will you be able to assess whether you were right or wrong. But see, once you argue, you lose perspective.
Now what are the odds that you will always possess more knowledge on the subject than the person you are dealing with? Right, not very good. 🙂
Keep this in mind. You will certainly win friends and influence people if you have a true understanding of this concept.
