The Mental Journey on your Quest to Lose Weight
Today is Wednesday, February 8, 2023. Yesterday I realised that the mental journey on my quest to lose weight is as important as my physical journey.
You know how I shared in a previous post, one of the earlier ones in this quest, about the formula for success, being the sum of your knowledge, skill and attitude? For those who missed it, to be successful in any endeavor, you need specific knowledge (knowing what to do), plus you need specific skills (knowing how to do it) and then you need the right attitude (wanting to do it). This last element is where your mental faculties play a HUGE role.
Wanting to do it. Your desire to do it. Now, after 17 days, I can tell you with certainty: some days you just won’t “feel it”. Some days your desire to do it, is just not there. Some days you just feel flat. Yesterday was a day like that for me.
Thankfully Tanita wasn’t too ruthless with me this morning. Here’s what she said:
- Weight 99.3 kg (same; over all down 3.2kg)
- Body fat percentage 32.8% (up by 0.7%; over all down 1.7%)
- Body fat mass 32.5 kg (up by 700g; over all down by 1.1kg)
- Visceral fat 16 (same)
- Body water percentage 47.4% (down by 0.3%; over all down by 1%)
- Muscle mass 63.5 kg (down by 600g; over all down by 2kg)
- Metabolic age 68 (same)
Today is another day. Today is a new day. Yesterday is no more. Tomorrow is yet to come.
“Pull yourself up at your bootstraps, and go again.”
Reset the mind. Refocus on WHY you are doing it. Try to learn more goal specific knowledge, gain better result-driven skills and clarify your thoughts to distill the essence of your desire.
Have a great day everyone.
W.
